Structural Engineer - Bridges
Immediate opening for a full-time Structural Design Engineer specializing in Bridges in our Springfield, Illinois office.

At HLR, you will be responsible for:

Evaluating, developing, and designing structural elements utilizing various materials.

Reviewing drawings supplied by clients and other engineers, and recommending necessary changes.

Conducting bridge inspections and maintaining project documentation, calculations, filings, etc.

Preparing Bridge Condition Reports.

Understanding gravity analysis and lateral analysis.

Researching code issues and work with various public officials.

Attending project kick-off meetings and design review meetings.

Interacting with clients on deadline-driven projects.

Performing quality reviews and resolving technical issues.

Coordinating work through design development and construction document phases.

Clearly communicating ideas and concepts to clients and non-structural project team members.

If you have either a B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering, hold either a Professional Engineer or Structural Engineer license, have a minimum of three years experience with a public agency or an engineering consulting firm, and if you are a problem solver with strong technical skills and can develop practical solutions that meet our clients’ needs, we want to talk to you.

Reviewing drawings supplied by clients and other engineers, and recommend structural framing systems.

Designing and detailing structural systems for both buildings and industrial facilities which requires the understanding of gravity analysis and lateral analysis.

Interacting with clients on deadline-driven projects.

Performing quality reviews and resolving technical issues.

Clearly communicating ideas and concepts to clients and non-structural project team members.
